If investor Kevin O'Leary were starting from scratch today, his business strategy would not be complicated.

It would be practical.

“Where is there a pain point? Where is there something I could fix or make it easier that people would pay me for that solution?” O’Leary says.

According to O’Leary, many successful businesses begin by solving everyday problems people regularly experience. Rather than focusing on flashy ideas or short-term trends, he says entrepreneurs should pay attention to practical opportunities that make life easier for consumers. Businesses built around real issues often create stronger long-term demand because customers already understand the value of the solution being offered.

In an interview with The Jaime Catmull Show, O’Leary also pointed to social media and artificial intelligence as major opportunities for entrepreneurs — especially those who know how to communicate clearly and build trust with audiences online.

“If you’re a good storyteller, you can acquire customers and build a community at no cost,” he says.

O'Leary praises communication as one of the most valuable business skills in today’s economy.

Where People Are Earning With High-Yield Savings Accounts

Entrepreneurs increasingly rely on social platforms, podcasts and video content to connect directly with consumers. But entrepreneurs no longer need massive advertising budgets to build audiences and market products effectively. Instead, business owners can use social media and other digital tools to grow fast.

One standout opportunity in this space? Artificial intelligence.

He says AI is helping to level the playing field for smaller businesses by allowing entrepreneurs to automate tasks, improve efficiency and compete in ways that once required much larger teams and resources.

Even so, O’Leary says the fundamentals behind building wealth have not shifted. While new technology continues changing the business world, O’Leary says he believes opportunity still exists for entrepreneurs willing to pay attention to everyday frustrations others overlook.

For people looking to build wealth today, he says solving real problems and communicating clearly remain two of the most important places to start.
