Bolivia: Anti-government demonstrators and police clash

Protesters gathered in Bolivia's capital on Monday demanding the resignation of President Rodrigo Paz.

Law enforcement officers deployed tear gas to control the crowds in La Paz as the latest demonstration formed part of weeks-long unrest within the country over economic pressures.

Farmers, miners, teachers and indigenous communities were among thousands of protesters who took the street to call for higher wages and an end to the privatisation of state-owned companies

Video from the city showed protestors chanting, starting fires and throwing objects.

Public prosecutor Attorney General Roger Mariaca said an arrest warrant would be issued for the head of the largest union COB - Mario Argollo - accusing him of terrorism and inciting protests against the government.
