An ankle monitor, a meat slicer, some breast milk, and a package of live butterflies walk into an Uber...except this is not the setup to a joke.
The seemingly unrelated items have made it to the rideshare company's annual list of bizarre items left behind by riders.
The list includes categories for the most unique items lost, the most commonly forgotten items, the most forgetful cities, yearly trends, and others.
New York City earned the title of America's most forgetful city, while Sunday was crowned as the most forgetful day on the list.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Uber's annual lost and found index, the company said, adding that it was using the opportunity to recap trends over the years.
"From AirPods becoming an everyday essential, to vaccine cards and face masks taking over in 2021, Ozempic making its way into backseats in 2025, and viral Labubu plushies riding shotgun this year, the Lost & Found Index has become an unexpected time capsule of the past decade," Uber said in its press release.
Uber is the nation's most widely used rideshare app, significantly outperforming Lyft and other competitors. According to a 2024 analysis by data analytics firm Bloomberg Second Measure, Uber commands 76% of the US rideshare market.
That means a lot of items get reported lost - including more than a million phones over the past year.
Some of the unusual items that made it to the "50 most unique lost items" category include:
- George Washington hospital discharge papers
- A textured photo with a rhinestoned picture of Jesus
- 2lb blue raspberry Gushers
- Pair of partial teeth in a tissue
- 20 pounds of duck sausage
- Pelvis implants
- A child's prosthetic eye
- Donny Osmond group picture
Vapes and e-cigarettes, LaBuBu dolls, various forms of teeth including gold grills and veneers, and Croc sandals dominated the trends of lost items over the past year, Uber said.
Uber also listed the following most unique items left behind each year since it began the lost and found index.
- 2017: Lobster
- 2018: Divorce Papers
- 2019: Salmon Head
- 2020: Lanyard that says "virginity rocks"
- 2021: A large painting of Kate Middleton
- 2022: 500 grams of caviar
- 2023: MY DOG IS IN THE CAR!!! A toy poodle
- 2024: Fake butt
- 2025: Taxidermied rabbit
- 2026: A 75 gallon fish tank
The rideshare company announced that it was rolling out a new lost and found reporting process in its apps, which would be launched nationwide by the end of the year.
