British actor Anthony Head has died at the age of 72.

Head first became widely known in the UK featuring in Nescafe adverts in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and went on to play roles in many popular TV shows, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Ted Lasso and Merlin.

Head's big breakthrough in the UK came from an unlikely place - playing one half of the Gold Blend couple in Nescafe coffee TV adverts. He and Sharon Maughan's portrayal of a coffee-inspired romance unfolded through a series of ads between 1987 and 1993
