ATLA fans who've been holding out for years to see Avatar: The Last Airbender reincarnate on screen can get ready for its new edition to start streaming. Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender will hit Paramount Plus on July 25, bringing a story written by original creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko that follows the beloved characters -- now adults -- as they confront a new threat.
According to Paramount, the movie finds Aang learning "of an ancient power that could save his culture from extinction. With the help of his friends, he embarks on a global quest to find it before it falls into the wrong hands and threatens to upend the peace they sacrificed everything to achieve." Voicing Aang is Eric Nam, who is joined by Dee Bradley Baker as Appa and Momo, Dave Bautista as Tagah, Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza playing Sokka, Zuku voiced by Steven Yeun and Dionne Quan as Toph. Other talent lending their voices to the film include Freida Pinto, Ke Huy Quan, Taika Waititi and Ken Jeong.
This past April, a hacker leaked the film online, prompting a crisis at the studio and sparking debate among fans about waiting to watch it upon its official release. Anticipation for the movie has been high, as the award-winning animated franchise ended its run in 2008, with Aang and friends defeating Fire Lord Ozai and ending the 100-year war. Though Netflix is currently streaming two seasons of its live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series, Paramount's partnership with DiMartino and Konietzko for Avatar Studios is set to deliver this movie and the upcoming show, Avatar: Seven Havens.
